What I got was two solid "leather" corner strips at what I'll call the bottom, and one at the top that goes all the way across the top. Meaning there is NOTHING keeping the iPad from falling out the top of the case, which it is more than heavy enough to do. This also blocks the light sensor. Flipping around covers the home bottom and doesn't solve the problem of my iPad falling three feet to its death while I'm walking to my plane. This one is thinner and translucent, with a pattern all over the back. We returned the first one mainly because the iPad could not be charged or synced with the case on - we had to remove the bottom edge of the case - the opening for the cable connector was too small. It would also not fit in the dock with the case on, but that may not be possible with ANY case. This one allows charging and syncing, and is nice and thin, so it doesn't make the iPad too bulky.
